Sizing by chest: S to XXL, and how to measure a shirt you own
Every garment in this men’s Diwali outfit guide is sold in five sizes, S to XXL, chosen from a dropdown on the product page. Kurtas and shirts are sized by chest. If you are not sure of yours, do this.
- Take a shirt that fits you well and lay it flat, buttoned.
- Measure straight across the chest from armpit seam to armpit seam, and double it. That is your chest measurement.
- Compare it with the fit described on the product page and order your usual size.
- For the slim kurta and the tailored shirt, order your usual size. They are cut close on purpose. If you dislike anything snug, go one up.
- For the Nehru jacket, remember it goes over a kurta or shirt. Your usual size allows for that. Do not size down.
Oversized and relaxed cuts are already cut loose, so they do not need sizing up. That mistake gives you a kurta with sleeves past your knuckles.
Shoes, watch and the rest: keep it to one accent
The easiest way to spoil a Diwali photo is to wear everything at once. Pick one thing to be the accent and keep the rest quiet.
- With the plain kurta pajama, the accent can be the shoes or a simple watch.
- With the embroidered black kurta, the neckline is the accent. Plain pyjamas, plain shoes, nothing on the wrist except a slim watch.
- With the Nehru jacket, the jacket is the accent. A white kurta or shirt underneath and closed shoes are enough.

Shoes should be closed and clean. You will take them off at the door for the puja anyway.

- Make sure the number you give is one he answers. The courier tries up to three times on working days, and after that the parcel comes back to Hyderabad.
Dispatch from Hyderabad is within one working day, Monday to Saturday. After that, delivery is usually two to three days within Telangana, three to four days to the other southern metros, five to seven days for the rest of India and eight to twelve for remote areas. Diwali 2026 is Sunday 8 November, so order by 29 October to be comfortable. Care: kurtas wash cold, the Nehru jacket can be dry cleaned
Each listing gives its own care note, so read the one for the piece you bought. The short version:
- The solid kurta pajama takes a gentle wash in cold water, drying in shade and a medium iron.
- The embroidered black kurta can be dry cleaned, or hand washed inside out in cold water and dried in shade. Iron on the reverse and keep the iron off the embroidery.
- The Nehru jacket set takes a gentle machine wash or dry cleaning. Hang the jacket on a broad hanger between wears so the shoulders keep their shape.
- The embroidered shirt goes inside out into cold water with a mild detergent, dries in shade, and is ironed on the reverse so the embroidery is not flattened.
Whatever you wear, keep it away from the ghee and the mithai on the day. That is where the stains come from.
